BOScom Ships XP-embedded Thin Client Worldwide

Teradyon, Israel: February 26, 2004 -- BOScom, Ltd. today announced that it is now shipping another member of its thin client family, the BOSâNOVA XTC-400, worldwide. The Microsoft Windows Powered BOSâNOVA XTC-400 is based on a VIA 400 MHz processor and features an XP-embedded operating system for fast, efficient, state-of-the-art thin client computing. The BOSâNOVA XTC-400 includes BOScom's award-winning TN5250e emulation and 122-key driverless keyboard, providing iSeries customers with a unique opportunity to obtain a complete thin client solution from a single, industry-renowned manufacturer.
The BOSâNOVA XTC-400 has 256 MB memory and a 256 MB DOM (Disk on Module) allowing integration of additional software into the terminals, such as customized applications or commercial products like iNotes®. BOScom's BOSâNOVA TCP/IP TN5250e display and printing emulation software is bundled into the new thin client, as is the new BOSâNOVA TCP/IP Management Module that streamlines administrative tasks such as installation, configuration and upgrade. Other embedded applications include Internet Explorer 6, Microsoft Outlook Express, Adobe Acrobat Reader, and Office Viewer.
According to IDC, the growth of thin client sales has been outpacing that of PCs for enterprise computing since 2001. The trend is strengthening in the iSeries environment, as network administrators realize the cost efficiency and enhanced security of maintaining thin clients as opposed to PCs.
